The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rento closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Nice defenses there by Meikalainen.
Rento uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Meikalainen has time to react.
Meikalainen throws a chopping leg kick but Rento manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Rento misses with a kick to the body.
Meikalainen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Meikalainen fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rento is out of range.
Meikalainen lands a slapping body shot.
Matti Meikalainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Raimo Rento has been cut.
Meikalainen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Rento lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Meikalainen ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooooh!!! Meikalainen has knocked Rento down with a huge combo! Meikalainen steps away and waves a wobbly Rento back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Rento tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Meikalainen appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

and Meikalainen counters with a nice right hand that sends Rento toppling to the canvas! Rento scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Meikalainen finish him?!

Meikalainen cracks Rento with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!
