The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Pierzynski misses the target.
Pierzynski throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mitchell moves out of range of the strikes.
Mitchell has a takedown stuffed.
Mitchell fails with the takedown.
Pierzynski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mitchell sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mitchell fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pierzynski.
AJ Pierzynski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mitchell looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Mitchell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mitchell tries to clinch there but Pierzynski circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pierzynski lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mitchell scores with a nice strike.
The fighters circling - Pierzynski throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mitchell changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mitchell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pierzynski but Pierzynski pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Pierzynski throws a hook but Mitchell avoids it easily.

Pierzynski wants to get up but he can't break Mitchell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mitchell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pierzynski controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oh but Mitchell is tightening it up a little... Pierzynski has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Pierzynski reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Pierzynski taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mitchell!
