Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sasha Parlsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Schmitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doug Schmitt has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sasha Parlsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Schmitt!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Schmitt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Parlsh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Schmitt.
Schmitt swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Parlsh counters with a left to the body.
Parlsh takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Parlsh closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Schmitt's guard.
Parlsh stops Schmitt from standing up.
Schmitt wants to control but Parlsh passes easily into half guard.
Parlsh not doing much here.

Parlsh decides to stand and escape the position.
Doug Schmitt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parlsh clinches up against the cage.
Schmitt wants a takedown but no success here.
Schmitt goes for a takedown attempt but Parlsh pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sasha Parlsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doug Schmitt.

Parlsh shoots in for a takedown but Schmitt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Schmitt. Parlsh does a little dance to reset his feet.
Schmitt lands a jab.
Schmitt avoids a punch combination nicely.
Schmitt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Parlsh circles away quickly and effectively.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Parlsh stuffs the takedown.

Schmitt shoots in for a takedown but Parlsh shows good takedown defense.
Parlsh seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Parlsh closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Parlsh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Schmitt tries to kick Parlsh off but Parlsh keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Parlsh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schmitt on the ground.
Schmitt is staying active underneath Parlsh, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Parlsh stops Schmitt from getting back to his feet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Parlsh gets a clinch.
Schmitt prevents the takedown attempt.

Schmitt is trying to trip Parlsh. He has hold of a leg but Parlsh is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Schmitt persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Schmitt postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Schmitt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Schmitt is looking to work some ground and pound but Parlsh has wrist control.

A close round but Doug Schmitt will probably get the nod.

Parlsh with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schmitt to score with a decent uppercut.
Schmitt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Parlsh as he jumps to the side.
Schmitt is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Good shot there by Schmitt.
Schmitt misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Parlsh.
Sasha Parlsh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Schmitt darts in and clinches Parlsh up against the cage.

Schmitt has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Parlsh regains guard immediately.
Parlsh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Schmitt scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Parlsh manages to mount him!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schmitt tries to hold on but Parlsh pushes him away.

Parlsh trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parlsh is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Schmitt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Parlsh could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Parlsh landing strikes from the mount and Schmitt is in trouble!

Schmitt bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schmitt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Schmitt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Parlsh's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Parlsh's back!
Parlsh has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Schmitt.
Parlsh covers up after that shot from Schmitt.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Schmitt working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Parlsh is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Schmitt has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Parlsh taps out!
