Matterson has chosen Dead by April - What can I say as his entrance music. Mathew Matterson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Thomas Vikstrom's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vikstrom gets the takedown into side control.
Matterson is trying to improve his position.
Vikstrom has control of an arm but Matterson manages to advance to Vikstrom's back!
Vikstrom keeps control of the position easily here as Matterson tries to buck him off.
Matterson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Matterson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Vikstrom tries to control but Matterson wriggling away.
Matterson tries to hold on but Vikstrom pushes him away.

Vikstrom is working for a guillotine from mount but Matterson frees his head quite easily.

Vikstrom wants to finish this one by submission but Matterson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Vikstrom.

Vikstrom jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Matterson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Matterson is looking for a sweep.
Matterson seems a little lost for a moment, as Vikstrom dominates the positioning.
Matterson wants to get back to his feet but Vikstrom drags him back down.

Vikstrom goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Matterson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vikstrom but great work by Matterson.

Matterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vikstrom. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vikstrom is breathing heavily.
Vikstrom tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Matterson easily slips into full mount!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Matterson prevents Vikstrom from getting the reversal.
Vikstrom avoids a series of strikes thrown by Matterson.

Matterson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vikstrom is looking to escape.
Matterson tries to stand up but Vikstrom had a hold of his arm and he's managed to perform a nice reversal, into half guard.
Vikstrom is trying to control the action in half guard but Matterson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Vikstrom has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Matterson defend it? Vikstrom steps over the head and cranks it - Matterson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Vikstrom!
