PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Brakeley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Rousey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robbie Rousey told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brakeley dives in for a single leg takedown but Rousey sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Brakeley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rousey on the ground.

Brakeley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brakeley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Brakeley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rousey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rousey wants to stand and escape but Brakeley is having none of it.

Brakeley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Rousey throws his legs up looking for a submission but Brakeley uses it to pass to side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brakeley remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Rousey can't do much from the bottom here.

Rousey lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rousey throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rousey is keen to just control but Brakeley is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Brakeley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
