The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stilies throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kahva.
Kahva shoots in for a double leg but Stilies sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kahva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Stilies throws a leg kick that is checked

and Kahva moves into the clinch.
Kahva can't get the takedown.
Gary Stilies has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jenkka Kahva.
Kahva keeps control of Stilies as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Kahva turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kahva manages to end up in side control.
Stilies is looking for a sweep.

Stilies manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kahva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stilies's head.

Kahva prevents Stilies from improving his position.
Kahva takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Stilies is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kahva pulls his head out easily.
Kahva throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Stilies is staying active underneath Kahva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stilies lands a couple of sideways elbows.
Kahva not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kahva wants to stand up but Stilies has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Stilies gets full guard.

Stilies is looking for a triangle but Kahva pushes his legs off easily.
Kahva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stilies. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kahva wants to stand but Stilies has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Stilies is trying to control the position but Kahva postures up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kahva accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kahva lands a couple of digs.

Stilies is looking for a triangle but Kahva pushes his legs off easily.

Kahva content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Stilies has locked up a guillotine! Stilies's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kahva is holding on here and Stilies must be using up a lot of energy. Kahva has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Stilies gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
