Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bart Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Bates!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates looks to land a combination but Simpson avoids it well.
Simpson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bates sprawls and moves away.
Simpson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Simpson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bates swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from Simpson.
Bates feints the counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simpson works Bates's body with a nice hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.

and Bates moves into the clinch.

Bates pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Simpson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bates doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bates manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Simpson is trying to control the position but Bates postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bates distracts Simpson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bates throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Simpson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bates accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bates postures up.

Bates got a little sloppy there for a moment and Simpson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bates has managed to get both his arms back between Simpson's legs - danger averted.

Simpson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Bates should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Simpson has tightened it up now! Bates should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bart Simpson!
Bart Simpson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
