Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leslie Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Zammit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Leslie Delgado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joey Zammit!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zammit thows a leg kick but Delgado checks it

and Delgado counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zammit won't be happy with that.
Delgado working the body and head with strikes.
Zammit is trying to improve his position.
Sloppy strikes there by Delgado.
Delgado working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Zammit wants to get back to his feet but Delgado drags him back down.
Delgado cracks Zammit with a big elbow.
Delgado wants to control for a moment but Zammit uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Delgado with the ground and pound but Zammit uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Delgado throws a big right hand that misses.
Delgado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Delgado accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Delgado is looking to work some ground and pound but Zammit has wrist control.
Zammit tries to strike from the bottom.
Zammit bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Delgado's guard.

Delgado looking for a sweep. Not yet Delgado, not yet.
Zammit throws a big right hand that misses.
Zammit is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Zammit postures up.
Zammit wants to stand but Delgado is controlling his posture from full guard.
Zammit content to stall in guard here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Delgado is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Zammit is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Zammit throws the left hand but Delgado avoids the punch easily.
Delgado shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zammit sprawls well. Zammit wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Delgado gets slowly back to his feet.

Zammit looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Zammit passes the guard and advances to mount!

Zammit is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Delgado to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Delgado shrugs it off.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Zammit with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Delgado tries to lock up and control but Zammit gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Delgado is squirming around, avoiding Zammit's attempts to control the action.
Zammit avoids the attempt from Delgado to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Delgado manages to regain half guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Zammit dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Delgado wants to clinch.
Delgado looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Zammit feints the counter takedown.
Delgado misses with a jab, cross combination.
Delgado throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zammit.

Zammit gets a takedown into half guard.
Zammit is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zammit wants to take a breather but Delgado is having none of it.

Delgado manages to get to full guard.
Zammit stays in close to Delgado's body and controls the position.
Zammit wants to stand but Delgado is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zammit stands up over Delgado, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Zammit wants to control from the top but Delgado keeps moving.
Delgado is trying to hold Zammit in close to prevent damage but Zammit has managed to pass into half guard.
Delgado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Zammit stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Delgado trying to hold on to Zammit's head to control him but Zammit postures up.
Zammit not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Delgado takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Delgado swinging wildly here.

Zammit closes the distance and clinches.

Zammit escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Zammit manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Delgado on his heels. He'll look to pass Delgado's guard now, I'm sure.

Delgado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Zammit is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zammit wants to get up but he can't break Delgado's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Joey Zammit showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Zammit wants the takedown. Delgado is fighting it off but Zammit persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Delgado's guard against the cage.
Zammit has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like Zammit is going to stand back up.

Zammit postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Delgado is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zammit, into his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Delgado gets to his feet. Zammit looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

And that's the end of the fight!
Joey Zammit comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Zammit has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
