Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Resnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Hughes is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brock Resnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, BJ Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Resnar quickly recovers to half guard.
Resnar wants to get back to his feet.
Resnar wants to improve his position but Hughes is controlling well.

Hughes decides to return to a standing position.
Resnar really is a fat lump.

Hughes is looking for a sweep.
Resnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hughes keeps working.

Resnar goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hughes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Resnar's guard! Nice work there by Hughes!

Resnar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hughes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hughes wants to control from the top but Resnar keeps moving.

Hughes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Resnar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hughes has Resnar in his guard.

Resnar trying to control but Hughes is working from the bottom.

Hughes looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Resnar has picked Hughes up and slammed him! Hughes can't keep hold of the triangle and Resnar manages to pass to side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes is trying to control Resnar's posture but Resnar avoids it.

Resnar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hughes keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hughes wants to control but Resnar postures up.

Hughes is desperately trying to improve his position but Resnar has a good base and remains in mount.

Hughes is squirming around, avoiding Resnar's attempts to control the action.
Resnar misses with a head shot.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Resnar drives through with a takedown into guard.

Resnar distracts Hughes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Resnar trying to control the position from guard on top but Hughes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Resnar is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hughes defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

You can see the frustration on Hughes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hughes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Resnar has his hands clasped together around Hughes's back. He's all about the action.
Resnar gets full guard.
Hughes won't allow Resnar to sweep him here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hughes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Resnar has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Resnar misses with a jab, cross combination.

Hughes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Resnar pulls Hughes into guard.

Resnar is really struggling to control Hughes but he's trying to hold on to the position.
BJ Hughes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brock Resnar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
