PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Tamad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tamad comes into the arena with The Joker blaring out of the sound system. Steele is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cinderella Man. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 20 - 1, fighting out of London, Juan Tamad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George Steele!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele moves out of range as Tamad strikes.
Tamad connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.


It looks like George Steele has been cut.
Steele fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Steele bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tamad tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Steele wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Steele tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Steele has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Steele wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tamad keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steele goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Tamad has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Steele but great work by Tamad.
Steele is looking for a sweep.
Steele manages to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steele makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Steele.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tamad stopping the sweep attempt from Steele.

Steele working for a triangle but Tamad defends it easily.
Tamad scoring with punches to the head and body.
Steele utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Steele has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tamad can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Steele is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tamad throwing strikes from guard but Steele blocks nicely.
Steele wants to sweep here but Tamad controlling him for the moment.
Tamad landing some decent shots from guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Steele has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Tamad should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Steele has tightened it up now! Tamad should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
