Akulenko comes to the cage accompanied by Cowboys From Hell. Alaniz has chosen Beck - Loser as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eugeniy Akulenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charlie Alaniz!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alaniz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Akulenko.
Alaniz walks into a stiff left hand from Akulenko.
Alaniz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

and Alaniz counters with a single leg into guard. Akulenko didn't expect that.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Akulenko scores with a sloppy right hand. Alaniz should have avoided that one.

Akulenko drives through and clinches with Alaniz against the cage.

Akulenko throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Alaniz blocks it with crossed arms.
Alaniz jumps guard but Akulenko turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Alaniz tries for a takedown but Akulenko manages to get underhooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alaniz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Akulenko walks away with a smile on his face. Alaniz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Alaniz counters with a three punch combo that has Akulenko backing up. Akulenko nods at Alaniz to acknowledge the strikes.

Alaniz is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Alaniz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Akulenko tries to avoid it but Alaniz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Akulenko to the ground. Akulenko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Alaniz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alaniz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Alaniz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Akulenko haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alaniz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Akulenko connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Alaniz scrambles back to his feet.

Alaniz throws a strike but Akulenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Akulenko is pressed up against the cage. Alaniz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Akulenko down to the mat. Akulenko avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Akulenko pushes Alaniz against the cage. Akulenko is working some dirty boxing. Akulenko pushes off with a quick right hook! Alaniz goes down! Alaniz tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Akulenko moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
