The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ki Won is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rabemananjara sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rabemananjara is looking to counter punch.
Ki Won shoots and misses
and Rabemananjara connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ki Won closes the distance and clinches up with Rabemananjara, looking for a takedown. Ki Won pushes Rabemananjara against the cage but Rabemananjara circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hery Rabemananjara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cheng Ki Won.
Donk. Rabemananjara catches Ki Won right on the button with a cross.
Ki Won fails with the takedown
and Rabemananjara cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ki Won closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rabemananjara quickly recovers to half guard.
Rabemananjara on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rabemananjara tries to get out of the position.
Ki Won winds up and cracks Rabemananjara with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ki Won throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ki Won has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Rabemananjara defend it? Ki Won steps over the head and cranks it - Rabemananjara is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ki Won!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cheng Ki Won!
Cheng Ki Won is the new light heavyweight champion!
After the fight, Cheng Ki Won was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
