PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teodoro Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miko Lethonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Teodoro Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miko Lethonen!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter avoids the head kick by Lethonen.
Lethonen loads up on a big right hand but Hunter slips the punch.
Lethonen misses with a kick to the body.

Lethonen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Lethonen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hunter pulls Lethonen in to control the position.
Lethonen trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lethonen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hunter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lethonen is one step ahead there.

Lethonen throws a strike but Hunter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Lethonen wants to sweep here but Hunter controlling him for the moment.
Lethonen is pulling down on Hunter's head. It's preventing any offense from Hunter, at least for the moment.

Lethonen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lethonen looking for a sweep. Not yet Lethonen, not yet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hunter tries to stand but Lethonen is controlling from the bottom.
Hunter stays in close to Lethonen's body and controls the position.
Lethonen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hunter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hunter wants to stand but Lethonen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hunter enables Lethonen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hunter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lethonen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hunter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Lethonen trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hunter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lethonen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lethonen passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Lethonen working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lethonen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Lethonen tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunter is not content to let Lethonen control the position.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Hunter struggling a bit here.
Lethonen is working Hunter over with some ground and pound from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lethonen misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hunter takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lethonen working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Lethonen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Lethonen throwing strikes but Hunter manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miko Lethonen dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lethonen throws a head kick but Hunter moves out of range.
As Lethonen tries to get set, Hunter tries to push him back and clinch up but Lethonen manages to avoid the attempt.
Lethonen misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hunter feinted with a counter takedown.
Teodoro Hunter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lethonen throws a head kick but Hunter moves out of range.
A big left from Lethonen misses.
Hunter blocks a head kick by Lethonen.
Hunter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lethonen.
Hunter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hunter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Lethonen throws a head kick that misses

and Hunter holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Hunter fails to land.
Hunter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Lethonen gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Lethonen wants to control but Hunter is keeping him busy.
Lethonen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lethonen is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hunter reverses the position - he's now on top in Lethonen's guard.
Lethonen is pulling down on Hunter's head. It's preventing any offense from Hunter, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lethonen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunter is one step ahead there.
Lethonen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hunter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lethonen is proving hard to escape from.

Lethonen working a defensive guard but Hunter manages to pass into side control anyway.
Lethonen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hunter tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Lethonen is trying to control Hunter's posture but Hunter avoids it.

Hunter decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lethonen to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lethonen scores with a head kick. Hunter tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Teodoro Hunter has been cut.
Lethonen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hunter shoots for a double leg takedown but Lethonen sprawls well. He's pushed Hunter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hunter moves forwards but Lethonen connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Lethonen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Miko Lethonen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lethonen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hunter.
Hunter moves away from the strike by Lethonen.
Lethonen works the jab nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miko Lethonen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Teodoro Hunter's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Lethonen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hunter tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hunter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Hunter is rocked!
Lethonen pounces like a tiger and cracks Hunter with a vicious hook! Hunter is down but not out! Lethonen follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Miko Lethonen!
