PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Orville Redenbacher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Pitbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redenbacher's entrance music is Danger Zone. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Orville Redenbacher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Pitbull!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redenbacher throws a body shot but no joy.

Redenbacher tries to sprawl but Pitbull drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Pitbull is looking to take a break and control but Redenbacher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Redenbacher tries to get to full guard but Pitbull has control of the leg.
Pitbull is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Pitbull trying to work for an americana but Redenbacher has managed to regain full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pitbull working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Pitbull tries to pass the half guard into mount. Redenbacher knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Pitbull is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Redenbacher has managed to free his arm - good work.
Pitbull wants to stand up but Redenbacher has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Pitbull wants to take a breather but Redenbacher is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redenbacher is staying active underneath Pitbull, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Redenbacher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pitbull moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Orville Redenbacher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pitbull lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Redenbacher circles away quickly and effectively.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pitbull goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Redenbacher has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pitbull but great work by Redenbacher.

Pitbull is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pitbull tries for a takedown but Redenbacher sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Orville Redenbacher will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Pitbull changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Redenbacher tries to avoid it but Pitbull manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Redenbacher to the ground. Redenbacher escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

It seemed like Pitbull was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
