PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Helge Fossmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naya Shinoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fossmo comes into the arena with Helge Fossmo predikar blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Shinoki 's choice of entrance music: wadiako. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Naya Shinoki !
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fossmo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fossmo throws the left hand but Shinoki avoids the punch easily.
Shinoki changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Fossmo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Fossmo throws a series of punches but Shinoki moves out of range.
Fossmo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shinoki changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shinoki has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Shinoki takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Shinoki takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Fossmo throws a lazy uppercut

and Shinoki counters with a shoot takedown. Fossmo fights it but they end up in guard.

Fossmo is looking for a sweep. Shinoki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fossmo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Shinoki wants to control from the top but Fossmo keeps moving.
Fossmo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Fossmo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shinoki defends it easily.
Fossmo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shinoki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fossmo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fossmo is adopting a defensive guard.

Fossmo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shinoki manages to get himself to full guard.

Fossmo wants to control from the top but Shinoki keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shinoki is on top in guard.

Fossmo wants to stand up but Shinoki is controlling him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Shinoki works his way into side control.
Shinoki wants to control but Fossmo is keeping him busy.
Fossmo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shinoki wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Shinoki tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fossmo throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Fossmo is not content to let Shinoki control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Helge Fossmo will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Fossmo cracks a nice hook into Shinoki 's ribs.
Fossmo lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Shinoki is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Fossmo moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Helge Fossmo!
A relieved looking Helge Fossmo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Naya Shinoki stepped up to the mic, saying ' Didn't go my way I will come back stronger Congrats to my opponent an best of luck in the future thanks you all for the support'.
