PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antonia Mcdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dj Strait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Antonia Mcdonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dj Strait!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strait thuds his shin into the meat of Mcdonald's side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Strait looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Strait clinches up against the cage.
Strait swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Mcdonald is trying to break the clinch but Strait is controlling him.
Strait with a knee to the head.
Mcdonald is trying to break free.
Strait managing to block the knees to the body from Mcdonald.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcdonald has Strait pressed against the cage.
Strait is pushing Mcdonald up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Mcdonald breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mcdonald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Strait darts in and clinches Mcdonald up against the cage.

Strait throws a series of punches but Mcdonald avoids them all with ease.
Mcdonald moves in looking to clinch but Strait pushes him off.
Strait pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Strait moves into range and clinches up with Mcdonald.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Mcdonald is trying to push Strait away but Strait has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Strait tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mcdonald avoids it.
Strait keeps control of Mcdonald as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Strait avoiding damage.

Strait gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mcdonald makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mcdonald.
Mcdonald lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Strait not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Strait managing to control the position.
Mcdonald throwing strikes but missing.

Mcdonald throws an elbow that misses. Strait uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mcdonald's guard. Nice move by Strait!

Mcdonald has control of Strait's left arm, preventing Strait from doing any damage.
Mcdonald is trying to keep Strait in close.
Strait postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Strait stays in close to Mcdonald's body and controls the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mcdonald holds on and takes a little breather.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mcdonald manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Strait manages to get himself to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcdonald accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mcdonald thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mcdonald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Strait lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mcdonald looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Strait in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dj Strait dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Strait takes the fight into the clinch.
Mcdonald is trying to force a seperation but Strait has the dominant position.
Mcdonald tries to break the clinch but Strait is controlling the position.
Mcdonald is trying to break the clinch but Strait has him pressed against the cage.
Strait lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Mcdonald backwards.

Strait breaks from the clinch.
Mcdonald misses with a jab, cross combination.
As Mcdonald backs off Strait throws a huge counter combo but Mcdonald manages to avoid it all.
Strait moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcdonald blocks a head kick by Strait.
It looked like Mcdonald was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Strait wants to clinch.
Mcdonald looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Mcdonald lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Strait circles away quickly and effectively.

Strait changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mcdonald looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Strait has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mcdonald gets back to half guard.
Dj Strait has got the better of the ground game so far.

Strait is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mcdonald doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Strait.
Strait thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Strait thows a huge punch but Mcdonald dodges it nicely.
Mcdonald trying to control but Strait postures up.
Mcdonald slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Strait wants to pass the guard but Mcdonald is keeping the position.
Strait is breathing heavily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mcdonald is on top in guard.

Mcdonald postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Strait is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mcdonald, into his guard.

Mcdonald lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strait throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Strait is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcdonald throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mcdonald makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mcdonald.
Strait must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mcdonald is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mcdonald wants to sweep but no luck.

Dj Strait showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mcdonald has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Strait is working away from the top position though.

Strait trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcdonald is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcdonald is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Strait gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Strait fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mcdonald sprawls well initially but Strait persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

A nice leg kick lands there from Strait.

Dj Strait comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Strait has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Dj Strait thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
