PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lance Burt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JB Bras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). JB Bras will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lance Burt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JB Bras!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bras dives in and grabs Burt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Burt pushes down on Bras's head and hops out.
Burt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bras is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Bras pushes Burt up against the cage in a clinch.
Burt goes for a takedown attempt but Bras pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Bras moves into the clinch successfully.
Burt wants to get back to striking at distance but Bras won't allow it.

Bras is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Burt can't fight it off and eventually Bras manages to take the fight to the floor. Burt looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Burt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bras's guard.

Burt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bras manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Bras wants to get up but he can't break Burt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burt is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bras is controlling him.
Bras wants to stand but Burt has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice takedown defense from Burt. No joy for Bras on that attempt.

Burt rushes Bras and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bras is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Burt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bras wants to stand but Burt is controlling the position.

Burt drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bras manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Burt has Bras in his guard.

Burt lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bras looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Burt puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Bras is looking to get back to full guard here but Burt has managed to pass to side control instead.

Burt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lance Burt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Bras wants to control but Burt postures up.
Bras might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Burt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Bras is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Burt is controlling him well.
Bras tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Burt is not going to allow Bras to sit and survive in this position.

Bras is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Burt.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Bras drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Burt gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Horrible takedown attempt by Burt or perhaps it was just good defense by Bras, which made it look bad.

Bras is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burt defends well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Burt decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Burt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bras looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bras is trying to get back to half guard.
Bras is letting Burt control him for a moment.

Lance Burt showed his dominance in that final round.
