Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hu Chang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melvin Morris has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hu Chang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Melvin Morris!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Morris misses.
Chang misses with a kick to the body.
Morris steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Chang. That one must have hurt.

Morris dives in and scores a takedown into Chang's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chang is keeping the position for now.
Morris slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Morris has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
My spies in School of Hard Knocks inform me that Morris has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Morris throws a right and a left that Chang avoids nicely.
Chang looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Morris shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Chang can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Morris controls the pace.
Morris working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Morris stands up over Chang, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Morris makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Morris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Morris drops back looking for a leg! Chang is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chang manages to kick Morris off! Morris jumps back into Chang's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Morris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Morris lands a jab to the nose.

Morris closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chang did well to prevent Morris getting side control.
Chang is looking to escape.

Morris is trying for a kimura here. Chang looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Morris wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Melvin Morris!
After winning the bout, Melvin Morris thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
