Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Truman Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Keo Kalanie!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalanie with a lazy takedown attempt

and Petersen counters with a head kick that drops Kalanie to the mat! Kalanie scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Petersen clinches up against the cage.

Petersen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Petersen with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Kalanie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Petersen counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Petersen really is a fat lump.
Kalanie is trying to push Petersen away but Petersen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Kalanie is looking to take this one to the mat.
Truman Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keo Kalanie.

Petersen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Petersen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Petersen counters by clinching up.

Petersen breaks from the clinch.
Petersen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Petersen wants it to stay on the feet.

Kalanie gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Petersen to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Kalanie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Petersen defends it easily.
Kalanie wants to hit a switch here but Petersen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kalanie there!

Kalanie tries to lock up and control but Petersen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kalanie sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kalanie gets back to full guard.
Kalanie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Petersen controlling from the top position.
Petersen throws a strike but Kalanie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kalanie won't allow Petersen to get back to his feet.
Kalanie trying to control the position from guard on top but Petersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Petersen can't keep his opponent in guard - Kalanie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kalanie is keen to just control but Petersen is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petersen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kalanie prevents Petersen from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kalanie trying to control from Petersen's half guard. Petersen has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Kalanie trying to control the position from guard on top but Petersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kalanie is pushing down on Petersen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Petersen is fighting to maintain full guard but Kalanie has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kalanie is looking for a kimura but Petersen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kalanie to get the leverage.
Kalanie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Petersen keeps working.
Kalanie prevents Petersen from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Truman Petersen dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Truman Petersen's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Kalanie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Petersen is fending him off so far but Kalanie persists. Nope, Petersen circles away and we're back to standing.
Kalanie throws a leg kick

and Petersen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Petersen.

Petersen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kalanie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Petersen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kalanie throws a left and a right that both miss
and Petersen counters with a good, hard body kick but Kalanie shrugs it off.

and Petersen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Truman Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keo Kalanie.
Petersen crunches a lovely knee into Kalanie's ribcage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Petersen manages to break the clinch.
Kalanie misses with a leg kick

and Petersen counters by moving into the clinch.
Petersen gets underhooks to prevent Kalanie's takedown attempt.
Kalanie fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Kalanie can't break the clinch.
Petersen is stalling here.
Petersen pushes Kalanie back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Petersen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kalanie falls off balance throwing a combination
and Petersen counters with a series of strikes. Kalanie will be more careful next time no doubt.

Petersen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kalanie's half guard.
Kalanie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Petersen's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Petersen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kalanie wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Petersen wants to stand and escape but instead Kalanie has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Kalanie stops Petersen from standing up.
Kalanie stands and throws Petersen's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kalanie is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Petersen is trying to escape and Kalanie transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Petersen is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kalanie! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Keo Kalanie!
