PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Woodrow Stephenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brick Shithouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shithouse has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Woodrow Stephenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brick Shithouse!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shithouse throws a sloppy head kick and Stephenson moves out of range easily.
Shithouse looks winded!

Shithouse fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stephenson, pushing him back against the cage.

Shithouse gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Stephenson regains guard.
Stephenson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shithouse manages to get himself to full guard.

Shithouse preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Shithouse should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Stephenson throws a big elbow that misses.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stephenson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stephenson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stephenson landing some decent shots from guard.
Stephenson throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stephenson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Shithouse has his hands on Stephenson's head, controlling the position.
Stephenson stands up over Shithouse, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Stephenson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Stephenson lands a couple of elbows.
Stephenson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Stephenson postures up and lands a big shot to Shithouse's brow.
Stephenson wants to stand but Shithouse has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stephenson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stephenson misses with a takedown attempt - Shithouse sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stephenson checks a leg kick nicely.
Stephenson darts in looking for a takedown but Shithouse gets double underhooks and turns Stephenson into the cage.

Stephenson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Stephenson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stephenson is nestled in close to Shithouse, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stephenson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Stephenson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Shithouse is looking to control Stephenson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shithouse avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stephenson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Shithouse is looking for a sweep. Stephenson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Stephenson lands strikes from half guard.
Shithouse wants to get back to full guard.
Stephenson controlling the pace.
Stephenson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stephenson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Shithouse controls his leg.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Stephenson goes for a double leg but Shithouse avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Shithouse continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Woodrow Stephenson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice sprawl there from Shithouse as Stephenson shoots in.
Stephenson shoots in but no luck this time.
Stephenson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Shithouse looking to score a takedown here. Stephenson is defending well but Shithouse drives through and ends up in Stephenson's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stephenson keeping moving, preventing Shithouse from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brick Shithouse will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Horrible takedown attempt by Stephenson or perhaps it was just good defense by Shithouse, which made it look bad.

Shithouse scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Stephenson is trying to stand up here but Shithouse is controlling him well.
Stephenson is controlling Shithouse's position as best he can from this difficult position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shithouse taking a breather but there's no such thing in a fight! Stephenson has locked on to a kimura from the bottom - he uses it to sweep and is now looking to finish from the top position! He's got it! Shithouse has tapped! Great work by Stephenson! Lay and pray doesn't pay, kids! Just remember, you heard it here first.
