Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dusty Wilcox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Verbeek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Verbeek has chosen Remember The Name as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dusty Wilcox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Verbeek!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilcox will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Verbeek shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wilcox as he avoids it easily.
Wilcox closes the distance and clinches up with Verbeek, looking for a takedown. Wilcox pushes Verbeek against the cage but Verbeek circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Verbeek keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dusty Wilcox. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Verbeek misses with a head kick.
Verbeek pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Verbeek scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wilcox doesn't seem bothered though.
Verbeek looks for the body kick but Wilcox saw that one coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verbeek tries to close the distance and clinch but Wilcox swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Wilcox feints and as Verbeek raises his hands in defense, Wilcox changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wilcox working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Verbeek is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Wilcox dives into side control.
Verbeek trying to control but Wilcox flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Wilcox's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Verbeek is trying to break free.
Verbeek is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wilcox lands with a hammerfist to the side of Verbeek's head.
Verbeek tries to roll but Wilcox sticks to his back.
Wilcox is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Verbeek. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Wilcox counters with a stiff right hand.
Verbeek is looking to clinch.

Wilcox is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Verbeek can do to turn this around?
Verbeek shoots for a double leg takedown but Wilcox sprawls well. He's pushed Verbeek's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Wilcox thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Wilcox is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Verbeek has escaped the position, nice work there.

Verbeek is trying to get back to half guard.

Verbeek is not content to let Wilcox control the position.
Verbeek gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Wilcox is taking a breather. Verbeek says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wilcox thows a huge punch but Verbeek dodges it nicely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Verbeek is refusing to be controlled, as Wilcox sits in half guard.

Wilcox slows the pace down in half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wilcox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Verbeek keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Verbeek shoots for a double leg takedown but Wilcox sprawls well. He's pushed Verbeek's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lucas Verbeek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wilcox fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And Verbeek tries to counter it with a takedown but Wilcox pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Verbeek dives in for a single leg takedown but Wilcox sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Verbeek tries to score a body lock takedown but Wilcox shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Verbeek is looking to control Wilcox's arms but Wilcox gets an underhook and turns him. Now Verbeek has his back to the cage.

Verbeek wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wilcox has him pressed against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Verbeek's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Wilcox creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Verbeek goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wilcox prevents it.

Wilcox moves out of range as Verbeek throws a body kick.
Wilcox half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Verbeek wants to take the fight to the mat but Wilcox manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Wilcox tries to land a knee to the head but Verbeek blocks with his arms.
Wilcox scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Wilcox tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Verbeek shoots in for a takedown but Wilcox shows good takedown defense.
Dusty Wilcox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Verbeek.
Verbeek misses with a head kick.
Verbeek takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wilcox closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wilcox perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wilcox is nestled in close to Verbeek, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wilcox is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Verbeek wants to improve his position but Wilcox is controlling well.
Wilcox is keen to just control but Verbeek is a slippery customer.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Wilcox takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Wilcox clinches up against the cage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Wilcox throws an elbow but misses.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Wilcox takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Wilcox gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Verbeek.
Verbeek has had enough of the clinch but Wilcox keeps him there for the moment.
Wilcox stops a takedown attempt from Verbeek.
Verbeek wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Wilcox throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Verbeek blocks it with crossed arms.
Verbeek jumps guard but Wilcox turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Verbeek has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wilcox avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Verbeek has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wilcox after a bit of a struggle.
Wilcox looking to throw knees to the head but Verbeek is blocking nicely.
Verbeek trying to control the position but instead, Wilcox has worked for underhooks and has pushed Verbeek into the cage.

Wilcox digs a right hand into Verbeek's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Verbeek's gas tank.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dusty Wilcox showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wilcox, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
