PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lip Ton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lip Ton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lip Ton!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilbert misses with a double jab.

Ton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gilbert sprawls well initially but Ton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gilbert defends it well.

Ton is working for a submission of some sort.

Gilbert looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gilbert is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ton pulls his head out easily.

Ton is working for a submission of some sort.
Gilbert moves into full guard.

Ton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ton advances position into side control!
Gilbert tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ton tries to move to mount but Gilbert blocks the move with his legs.
Ton gets to mount! Gilbert was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Gilbert tries to lock up and control but Ton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Gilbert reaches up to try and control the position but Ton seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Gilbert rolls and tries to escape and now Ton has his back!

Gilbert is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Ton has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Gilbert can't escape the position.

Gilbert defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Ton's arms.

Ton is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gilbert is defending well though. Ton let's go of the attempt for now.
Gilbert tries to escape but Ton has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Ton doesn't have the hooks in and Gilbert manages to turn into his guard.

Ton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gilbert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gilbert tries to free his leg and advance position but Ton is retaining full guard.

Ton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gilbert defends it easily.
Our spies down at at Montreal Elite Gym inform us that Ton has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Gilbert drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Gilbert as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Ton screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Gilbert! Nice submission victory there!
