PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alphonso Macias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Monza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alphonso Macias is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alphonso Macias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Monza!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macias shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Monza defends it nicely.

Monza moves into range and clinches up with Macias.

Monza breaks from the clinch.

Monza clinches with his opponent.
Macias is trying to break the clinch but Monza has him pressed against the cage.
Monza is defending well against a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Macias closes the distance but Monza moves to the side

and Monza counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Monza passes Macias's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Macias knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Monza on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Macias is trying to maintain the position but Monza is very close to passing his half guard.
Monza is nestled in close to Macias, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Monza wants to stand but Macias has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Monza is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Monza trying to control the pace.
Monza tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Macias.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Monza prevents Macias from improving his position.
Monza with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Monza looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Macias with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Monza tries to stand and escape but Macias is controlling the position.
Monza is thwarting Macias's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Macias tries to clinch up.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Monza! But no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Macias doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Monza counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alphonso Macias. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Monza engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monza's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Monza is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Monza's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Monza passes Macias's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monza passes the guard and advances to mount!
Monza controlling the position easily from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Monza working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Monza takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector Monza dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Macias tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Monza defends well and Macias ends up having to push Monza into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Alphonso Macias is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Monza looks for the body kick but Macias saw that one coming.
Horrible takedown attempt by Macias or perhaps it was just good defense by Monza, which made it look bad.

Monza closes the distance and clinches.
Macias tries to pull guard but Monza holds him up against the cage and eventually Macias drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alphonso Macias. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Monza tightens his grip and picks Macias up, before dumping him to the ground. Macias manages to land in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monza forces his way into half guard.

Macias trying to get back to full guard but Monza takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Monza controlling the position easily from mount.
Monza with a couple of short strikes.


It looks like Alphonso Macias has been cut.
Monza looking to control and managing it successfully.
Macias has given up his back here. Will Monza look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Monza not allowing Macias to control his hands.
Macias is trapped and Monza is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Macias looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Monza controlling the position well here. Macias rolled but Monza kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Macias is in bad spot here.

Monza is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Macias knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Macias for a finish.
Hector Monza has got the better of the ground game so far.

Monza working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Macias is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Monza has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Macias taps out!
