Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andres Hammond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andres Hammond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryan gets tackled into the cage by Hammond. Hammond maintains the clinch.

Ryan breaks the clinch.

Ryan scores with a takedown into Hammond's guard.

Ryan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Ryan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Ryan looking to score a takedown here. Hammond is defending well but Ryan drives through and ends up in Hammond's guard.
Ryan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammond utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ryan advances position into side control!
Ryan taking a breather here.

Ryan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hammond!
Ryan content just to control the position here.
Hammond is looking to improve his position but Ryan isn't that keen on the idea.
BOOM! Ryan connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Ryan trying to control but Hammond is having none of it.
Ryan controlling the pace for now.

Ryan stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Hammond looks to land a combination but Ryan avoids it well.

Ryan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hammond keeping moving, preventing Ryan from controlling successfully.

Hammond wants to sweep here but Ryan controlling him for the moment.
Ryan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Ryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ryan gets to his feet. Hammond looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hammond gets caught napping as Ryan dives in and scores a takedown. Hammond manages to retain guard.
Ryan looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Ryan wants to control from the top but Hammond keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Ryan dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hammond throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ryan pushes Hammond up against the cage in a clinch.

Hammond is trying to trip Ryan. He has hold of a leg but Ryan is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hammond persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ryan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hammond is controlling him.
Hammond could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ryan wants to sweep but no luck.
Hammond trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ryan's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hammond stands up from Ryan's guard - Hammond perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ryan swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Hammond is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hammond tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Ryan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hammond is trying to break free.

Hammond breaks from the clinch.
Ryan misses the shot to the body.

Ryan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hammond trying to hold on to Ryan's head to control him but Ryan postures up.
Matt Ryan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ryan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Ryan stalling away here and it's allowed Hammond to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Ryan gets to his feet - Hammond follows without any prompting.

Ryan moves into the clinch.

Hammond breaks from the clinch.

Ryan has Hammond up against the cage in a clinch.

Ryan gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hammond regains guard.

Hammond is working an open guard so Ryan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hammond uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Hammond gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ryan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ryan passes easily into side control. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Ryan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Hammond is looking to clinch.

Hammond bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hammond decides to stand back up. Hammond steps back and let's Ryan get back to his feet.

Ryan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan is looking to pass into half guard but Hammond pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Hammond is in guard.

Ryan trying to control the position.
Ryan has his hands on Hammond's head, controlling the position.
Ryan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hammond won't allow Ryan to get back to his feet.
Hammond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ryan wants to sweep here but Hammond controlling him for the moment.

Hammond stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ryan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Hammond gets caught napping as Ryan dives in and scores a takedown. Hammond manages to retain guard.
Ryan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hammond wants to sweep but no luck.
Hammond wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ryan manages to pass to side control.
Ryan is keen to just control but Hammond is a slippery customer.
Hammond moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hammond keeping moving, preventing Ryan from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ryan controlling from the top position.

Ryan has gone for a leg lock! Hammond slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ryan's guard.

Ryan controls Hammond momentarily but Hammond frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ryan wants to get back to his feet but Hammond is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hammond stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ryan blocks a head kick by Hammond.

Ryan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hammond sprawls well initially but Ryan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hammond looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammond tries to roll over but Ryan keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andres Hammond showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ryan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
