PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Mclean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke The Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roger Mclean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke The Duke!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Duke feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The Duke looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Mclean wants to stand and escape but The Duke is having none of it.
Mclean really is a fat lump.
Mclean wants to sweep here but The Duke controlling him for the moment.
Mclean pulls The Duke in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mclean is looking to sweep but instead, The Duke has passed into half guard.
Mclean is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mclean is trying to stand up here but The Duke is controlling him well.

Mclean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. The Duke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mclean pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mclean shoots in looking for a takedown but The Duke manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mclean's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mclean cracks the inside of The Duke's front leg.
Mclean tries for a takedown but The Duke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The Duke replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Mclean blocks it well.

Mclean changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The Duke looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mclean throws an elbow but The Duke slips to the side and avoids it well.
The Duke is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Mclean wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The Duke, who protects the arm well.

Mclean is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but The Duke is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The Duke tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mclean cracks The Duke with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Mclean looking to punish the body of his opponent here but The Duke is avoiding damage well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mclean creates some space and throws a big elbow, but The Duke sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The Duke tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mclean.
Luke The Duke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Duke blocks a head kick by Mclean.
The Duke throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mclean.
Mclean looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Mclean drives through and clinches with The Duke against the cage.
The Duke is breathing heavily.

Mclean breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mclean has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics The Duke uses from the top position.
Mclean wants to sweep but no luck.

Mclean lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Mclean tries to stand but can't do so whilst The Duke controls his leg.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The Duke has a hand on Mclean's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mclean takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

The Duke tries to lock up and control but Mclean gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
A nice elbow there by Mclean.
BOOM! Mclean connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mclean lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Mclean trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mclean putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The Duke takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The Duke throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mclean throws a head kick but The Duke moves out of range.
Mclean shoots for a double leg takedown but The Duke sprawls well. He's pushed Mclean's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As Mclean backs off The Duke throws a huge counter combo but Mclean manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Mclean. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mclean throws a nice looking combination but The Duke bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mclean closes the distance and pushes The Duke back into the cage.

Mclean ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mclean no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Roger Mclean showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mclean has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
