The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kennedy throws a big shot that misses.
Gonsales closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Gonsales gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Kennedy is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gonsales is defending well for now.
Kennedy tries to pull guard but Gonsales holds him up against the cage and eventually Kennedy drops back down to his feet.

Kennedy tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gonsales's elbow.
Kennedy throws a knee to the head but misses.

It looks like Freeman Kennedy has been cut.
Kennedy tries to throw a body punch but Gonsales avoids it by throwing Kennedy back against the cage.
Kennedy gets through Gonsales's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kennedy tries to land knees in the clinch but Gonsales avoids the damage to the body.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Gonsales.
Kennedy misses with a body punch.
Gonsales looking to stall.
Gonsales keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kennedy's efforts to push away.

Gonsales's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gonsales looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Gonsales, right into the meat.

Gonsales has closed the distance and engaged Kennedy in a clinch.
Kennedy can't get the takedown.

We've been informed that Gonsales has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Gonsales dodges an elbow strike from Kennedy.
Kennedy presses Gonsales against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Kennedy is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Kennedy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kennedy has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


Kennedy is rocked!
Gonsales fakes the body blow, causing Kennedy to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Kennedy goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nelson Gonsales!
A very excited looking Nelson Gonsales made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
