Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Tripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Hyypia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tripper comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Land Of Confusion. Hyypia has chosen Al Bowlly - Hang out the stars in Indiana as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Tripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Sami Hyypia!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyypia misses with a body shot.
Tripper is looking to counter punch.
Hyypia defending well as Tripper loads up on a big left hand.

Tripper throws a nice looking combination but Hyypia bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Tripper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hyypia is refusing to be controlled, as Tripper sits in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing good reports from Tripper's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Hyypia has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tripper is working away from the top position though.

and Hyypia connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hyypia has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Hyypia tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Tripper swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Hyypia is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tripper.

Hyypia looks to throw the jab but Tripper is out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tripper.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hyypia avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Tripper.
Hyypia has one of Tripper's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Hyypia wants to get back to his feet but Tripper drags him back down.
Hyypia is trying to improve his position.
Tripper landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Tripper here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Tripper misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Tripper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hyypia can do to turn this around?

The ground and pound from Tripper seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Tripper creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hyypia sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Hyypia regains half guard, as Tripper was trying to land strikes.
Hyypia looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tripper is trying to control. Hyypia wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Tripper pulls Hyypia in close to his closed guard and prevents Hyypia from doing any damage or advancing position.
Tripper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Tripper throwing strikes but Hyypia manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hyypia stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Tripper waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hyypia.
Tripper jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jack Tripper will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Tripper looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hyypia tries to counter with a clinch but Tripper shakes him off and moves away.
Tripper ducks right into an uppercut from Hyypia.
Tripper throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hyypia misses the jab.
Hyypia misses with the body kick
and Tripper counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tripper walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Tripper manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hyypia on his heels. He'll look to pass Hyypia's guard now, I'm sure.

Hyypia scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tripper on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Hyypia misses with a leg kick
and Tripper makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Hyypia sends Tripper crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Hyypia is motioning to the referee to let Tripper up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Tripper is rocked!

Hyypia feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Tripper collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Sami Hyypia!
Sami Hyypia decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
