Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Alterdale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felipe Silva!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alterdale.
Alterdale misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Alterdale throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alterdale off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Austin Alterdale. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alterdale moves into the clinch.
Alterdale gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Silva regains guard.
Alterdale postures up and lands a big shot to Silva's brow.
Alterdale passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva is trying to maintain the position but Alterdale is very close to passing his half guard.
Alterdale is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Alterdale is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva wants to get back to full guard.
Silva is trying to control but Alterdale manages to pass to mount!
Silva is just holding on here. Alterdale manages to take his back.
Silva has hold of Alterdale's leg, trying to break free but it's let Alterdale lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Silva is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Alterdale throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Austin Alterdale!
After the fight, Austin Alterdale was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
