The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi Jr shoots in for a takedown but Christenson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
An attempted straight right counter from Christenson misses the target.
Gomi Jr takes a swing at Christenson's ribcage but misses.
Christenson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Yoshi Gomi Jr has been cut.

Gomi Jr shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Christenson is trying to defend but Gomi Jr finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gomi Jr is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Christenson sees it coming and defends easily.
Gomi Jr is trying to control the action in half guard but Christenson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gomi Jr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Christenson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gomi Jr on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gomi Jr is keen to just control but Christenson is a slippery customer.
