PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aj Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aj Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Durden!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durden closes the distance and clinches.

Durden pulls guard successfully.
Parker wants to control from the top but Durden keeps moving.
Durden is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Parker preventing the sweep.

Durden looking for a guillotine here but Parker defends easily.
Durden seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parker throwing strikes but missing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Durden throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Parker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Durden as he avoids it easily.
Parker misses with a low kick.
Durden darts in looking for a takedown but Parker gets double underhooks and turns Durden into the cage.

Durden pushes Parker up against the cage in a clinch.

Durden pulls guard effortlessly.
Durden throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Parker throwing strikes but missing.
Durden trying to keep a closed guard but Parker is proving a slippery customer.

Parker wants to control from the top but Durden keeps moving.

Durden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Parker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Durden looking for a sweep. Not yet Durden, not yet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Durden trying to control the position here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Durden is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Parker stuffs the takedown attempt from Durden. Durden gets slowly back to his feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Parker or perhaps it was just good defense by Durden, which made it look bad.
Durden closes this distance looking for a takedown but Parker circles away.
Aj Parker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyler Durden.
Durden circles away from the clinch attempt
and Durden counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Durden drives through with a takedown into guard.

Durden drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Parker dives on top into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Durden looking for a guillotine here but Parker defends easily.
Parker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Durden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Parker is defending against the submission attempts here by Durden.

Durden gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Parker with a poor takedown
and Durden counters with a thumping low kick.
Parker moves in looking to clinch but Durden pushes him off.
Durden has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Parker is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Parker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Durden tries to avoid it but Parker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Durden to the ground. Durden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Durden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Parker sprawls well. Parker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Durden gets slowly back to his feet.
Durden has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Parker fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

It looks like Aj Parker has been cut.
Durden shoots in looking for a takedown but Parker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Durden's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Durden gets to his feet. Parker looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Durden shoots in looking for a takedown but Parker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Durden's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Durden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Tyler Durden has got the better of the ground game so far.
Durden looking to control but Parker passes into half guard.
Durden moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Durden manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Parker manages to get himself to full guard.

Parker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Durden pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Parker is keeping the position for now.
Durden stands up over Parker, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Durden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Parker is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Durden dives into side control.

Durden has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tyler Durden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Aj Parker's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Parker tries to pull guard but Durden forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Durden breaks the clinch.
Parker tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Durden rushes Parker and presses him up against the cage.
Durden jumps guard but Parker stands there with Durden around his waist. Durden gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Durden manages to break the clinch.

Durden plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Parker lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Durden has closed the distance and engaged Parker in a clinch.
Durden has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Parker avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Parker is trying to stall.
Durden is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Parker is defending well for now.

Durden looking to pass the guard.
Durden trying to control the position from guard on top but Parker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Durden postures up.

Durden throwing strikes from guard but Parker blocks nicely.
Parker pulls Durden in close to prevent any damage.
Durden seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Durden sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Parker's guard.

Durden wants to work for an arm triangle but Parker is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Durden is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Durden is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Durden in particular looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Durden will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Aj Parker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyler Durden.
Durden looks to land a combination but Parker avoids it well.
Durden shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Parker as he jumps to the side.
Parker misses with a kick to the body
and Durden counters with a straight right hand.
A head kick from Durden lands but Parker takes it in his stride.
Parker closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Durden pushes Parker up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Durden jumps into guard, dragging Parker to the mat.
Parker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Aj Parker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyler Durden is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Durden looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Tyler Durden comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Durden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
