Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Govan Aerts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renan Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Renan Gracie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Govan Aerts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Aerts, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Aerts against the ropes but Aerts circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Aerts shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Aerts missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Aerts is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Aerts eventually gives up the hold.

Aerts looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gracie is looking to control Aerts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted?
Aerts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aerts throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gracie is trying to control but can't.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gracie is pressing down on Aerts's thigh, looking to free his foot. Aerts is holding on for now.

Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aerts keeps working.
Aerts is looking to reverse the position.
Gracie works to advance to full mount. Aerts defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Aerts is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action.
Gracie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Aerts looks a forlorn figure.

Aerts keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Aerts is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

A close round but Renan Gracie will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Aerts instigates a clinch.
Aerts tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Aerts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Aerts drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gracie trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Gracie working for a triangle but Aerts defends it easily.
Aerts postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Aerts slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Aerts postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Aerts throws a strike aimed at the side of Gracie's head but Gracie avoids it well.

Aerts looks up at the clock and then as Gracie takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Aerts smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Gracie parries the strikes from Aerts easily there. Aerts is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gracie to escape.

Aerts is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gracie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Aerts is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?

Aerts drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gracie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gracie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gracie!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Aerts tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Aerts is being controlled here.
Gracie tries to score with some ground and pound. Aerts controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Govan Aerts will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
