Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dan Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mt Castillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mt Castillo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Phillips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mt Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Castillo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Phillips definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Phillips really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Phillips is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Castillo defends well.
Castillo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Phillips has his foot on Castillo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Castillo works his way back into a safe position though.

Castillo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Phillips is just riding it out for now. Castillo eventually gives up the hold.

Phillips sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Castillo lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Phillips closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Castillo's guard.

Castillo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Phillips off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Phillips wants to escape the position.
Castillo lands strikes to the head.
Phillips turns into Castillo and is now in his guard.
Phillips wants to pass the guard but Castillo is keeping the position.

Phillips postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Castillo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Phillips, into his guard.


Phillips is looking for a triangle but Castillo pushes his legs off easily.
Castillo stands up over Phillips, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mt Castillo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Castillo trying to control the position from guard on top but Phillips is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Castillo is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Phillips has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Castillo is looking to defend but Phillips has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Castillo! Phillips pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Castillo taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dan Phillips!
Our winner, Dan Phillips, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
