Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Lukobele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeremy Lukobele!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cox darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Cox seems content to control.

Cox is working for a kimura but Lukobele is defending it quite comfortably.

Cox is looking for a kimura but Lukobele is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cox to get the leverage.

Cox decides to stand up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cox closes the distance and clinches.
Cox is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lukobele gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Lukobele lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Cox pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cox on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lukobele lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cox circles away quickly and effectively.
Cox tries to counter by clinching up but Lukobele breaks away and moves out of range.
Cox shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lukobele sprawls well. Lukobele wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cox gets slowly back to his feet.

Lukobele closes the distance and clinches.

Lukobele pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lukobele has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Lukobele tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lukobele throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lukobele moves into the clinch.
Lukobele wants to break the clinch but can't.
I was talking to Cox's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Cox wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Cox. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cox has Lukobele pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cox pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lukobele tumbling to the mat - Cox dives into Lukobele's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cox won't allow Lukobele to get back to his feet.
Cox controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lukobele wants to stand but Cox is controlling the position.
Cox forces his way into half guard.
Lukobele pushes Cox off looking to stand but Cox dives back in and keeps control.

Cox working Lukobele over with strikes.

Cox is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lukobele sees it coming and defends easily.
Cox is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Cox is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cox lands with a punch from half guard.
Lukobele wants to get back to his feet.
Lukobele is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Lukobele really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cox trying to mount his opponent but Lukobele defends it.
Cox working the head and body with strikes.
Cox landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Cox is looking for a kimura but Lukobele is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cox to get the leverage.

Cox not doing much here.
Lukobele is trying to escape back to his feet but Cox uses the scramble to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Cox dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Lukobele closes the distance and pushes Cox back into the cage.
Lukobele is trying to break free.
Lukobele tries to circle away but Cox has him pinned against the cage.

Cox has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Lukobele clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Lukobele is trying to stand back up.

Cox working for a choke but Lukobele is defending well.
Lukobele wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cox working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Lukobele is doing well to defend. Cox seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Lukobele is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daniel Cox!
After winning the bout, Daniel Cox thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
