Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Shankar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shankar comes to the cage accompanied by "Them Belly Full" by Bob Marley. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Rob Williams enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Shankar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Williams!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Williams lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Shankar sprawling to the canvas. Williams follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Shankar hang on?


Shankar is rocked!


It looks like Andre Shankar has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Williams is keen to just control but Shankar is a slippery customer.
Williams trying to pass the guard but Shankar defending well.
Williams prevents Shankar from improving his position.
Williams wants to take a breather but Shankar is having none of it.
Shankar is pressing down on Williams's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Shankar trying to keep a closed guard but Williams is proving a slippery customer.

Williams throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shankar is trying to control the position but Williams postures up.
Williams controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Williams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shankar is proving hard to escape from.
Shankar wants to sweep here but Williams controlling him for the moment.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shankar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shankar trying to control from half guard but Williams is working away.
Shankar missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shankar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Williams regains full guard. Nicely done.
Shankar postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shankar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Williams working a defensive guard but Shankar passes into half guard.
Williams is trying to get back to full guard.
Williams wants to get back to his feet.

Williams trying to get back to full guard but Shankar takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Shankar gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Williams stuffs the takedown attempt from Shankar. Shankar gets slowly back to his feet.
Williams throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Shankar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shankar is breathing heavily.
A head kick misses from Williams.
Shankar shoots for a double leg takedown but Williams sprawls well. He's pushed Shankar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Shankar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shankar doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Williams throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shankar looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Williams misses with a wild combination.
Shankar avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Some bone on bone action there as Shankar checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Shankar shoots for a double leg takedown but Williams sprawls well. He's pushed Shankar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Shankar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams catches Shankar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Shankar takes one to the chin there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Williams dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Williams sends Shankar crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Williams is motioning to the referee to let Shankar up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Rob Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shankar checks a low kick from Williams.
Williams catches Shankar napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Shankar to the canvas!
Oh Shankar is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Williams passes Shankar's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Shankar seems to have got his legs back now.
Still in half guard, Williams seems content to control.
Williams trying to mount his opponent but Shankar defends it.
Williams is tying to control. Shankar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Williams moves into full mount! Shankar won't be happy about that!
Shankar sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Shankar is not content to let Williams control the position.
Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shankar kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Shankar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shankar wants to control but Williams is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Williams is trying to control the action in half guard but Shankar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Williams wants to stand up but Shankar manages to regain full guard.

Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Shankar is retaining full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shankar fails to land the takedown.
Rob Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shankar takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Williams fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Andre Shankar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Williams throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shankar on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Williams lands a left and a right that sends Shankar crashing to the canvas! Williams dives into mount looking to finish!
Williams looking to control but Shankar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Williams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Williams stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Shankar to get to his feet.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Williams. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Shankar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Williams throws a series of punches but Shankar moves out of range.

Shankar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Shankar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Williams manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shankar has Williams in his guard.

Williams would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Williams stands up from Shankar's guard - Williams perhaps looking for a knockout.
Williams throws a low kick, looking for Shankar's leg but Shankar calmly moves out of range.
Williams motions for Shankar to come forward. Williams throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A right-left combo lands from Williams.

Williams lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shankar backs up against the cage.

Williams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shankar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Williams throws a jab but it's blocked by Shankar.
Shankar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Williams swivels and escapes.
Shankar shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense.
Williams drops Shankar with a left right combo! Williams follows him down to the ground into side control.
Williams wants to stand but Shankar has his arm trapped.

Rob Williams is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Williams wants to stand but Shankar is controlling his arm.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Williams lands a two punch combo.
Williams fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shankar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Williams scores with a decent looking hook.
Williams lands a jab to the nose.
Shankar walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Shankar misses with a takedown attempt - Williams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Shankar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rob Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Williams winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
