Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Claud Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcia shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Garcia throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Garcia blocks the strikes from Clay.
Clay punching from the bottom.
Garcia wants to stand up but Clay is controlling the position.
Clay flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay wants to improve his position but Garcia is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clay is staying active underneath Garcia, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Garcia is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Clay trying to hold on to Garcia's head to control him but Garcia postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Garcia drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Clay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Clay is looking for a triangle but Garcia pushes his legs off easily.
Garcia wants to control from the top but Clay keeps moving.
Garcia wants to stand but Clay is controlling his posture from full guard.

Clay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Garcia defends well.
Clay controls Garcia momentarily but Garcia frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Clay holds on and takes a little breather.

Clay looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Clay keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully.
Garcia looking to pass the guard.
Garcia trying to control the position from guard on top but Clay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Garcia drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Clay pushes a forearm under Garcia's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Garcia is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Claud Clay!
