PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alva Gallegos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin OPossum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Alva Gallegos has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Alva Gallegos seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Gallegos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
OPossum shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gallegos pinned against the cage. Gallegos gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and OPossum counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

OPossum tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gallegos swivels and escapes.

OPossum tries to clinch but Gallegos is having none of it.
OPossum closes the distance and clinches up with Gallegos, looking for a takedown. OPossum pushes Gallegos against the cage but Gallegos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Gallegos counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. OPossum is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Gallegos takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gallegos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. OPossum defends it nicely.

Gallegos throws a strike but OPossum rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gallegos throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! OPossum escapes and throws Gallegos's legs to the side, diving into side control!
OPossum remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
