PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jingle Jingle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter comes to the cage accompanied by I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Jingle has chosen Kay Kyser - Jingle Jangle Jingle as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jingle Jingle!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunter takes the fight into the clinch.
Jingle jumps guard but Hunter stands there with Jingle around his waist. Jingle gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hunter misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hunter lands a hook to the side of the head.
Hunter pressing his opponent against the cage.

Jingle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jingle misses with a wild body shot.
Hunter showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jingle.
Hunter lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hunter, right into the meat.
Jingle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck for Jingle with that takedown attempt.
Justin Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jingle Jingle.

Jingle jabs Hunter right on the nose. Hunter blinks but takes it well.
Hunter throws a hook but Jingle avoids it easily.
Hunter turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A slow jab from Hunter misses its intended target.

Hunter connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Jingle Jingle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice straight punches there by Hunter. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hunter.
Jingle goes for a double leg but Hunter avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hunter continues to drive forward.
Hunter misses with a series of wild punches.

Jingle shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hunter is trying to defend but Jingle finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hunter throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jingle escapes and throws Hunter's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunter manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jingle's best efforts.

Jingle is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hunter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jingle is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jingle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Jingle is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jingle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hunter is looking for a sweep. Jingle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hunter holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Jingle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
Jingle tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hunter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jingle winds up and cracks Hunter with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hunter has hold of Jingle's hands but Jingle slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Jingle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jingle trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hunter wants to sweep here but Jingle controlling him for the moment.
Hunter seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Jingle is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jingle won't allow Hunter to sweep him here.
Hunter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Hunter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nice defenses there by Jingle.
Jingle ducks under a wild hook from Hunter.
Jingle closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunter circles away.
Hunter fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Jingle bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hunter tries to buck Jingle off but Jingle is having none of it.
Jingle is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Hunter wants to control but Jingle postures up.
Hunter is trying to get back to half guard.
Hunter seems a little lost for a moment, as Jingle dominates the positioning.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hunter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jingles jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Hunter lunges at Jingle with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jingle's hand.
Jingle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hunter as he jumps to the side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Hunter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Jingle moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hunter misses with an uppercut.
Jingle keeps the fight on the outside.
Jingle lands a glancing blow to the side of Hunter's head.
Jingle avoids the body shot from Hunter.
Hunter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jingle manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jingle is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jingle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hunter throws an elbow that misses. Jingle uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hunter's guard. Nice move by Jingle!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Justin Hunter.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hunter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
