Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alan Donald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elenor Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Donald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Elenor Carpenter!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donald feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Carpenter's calf.
Carpenter steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Donald.
Donald works the jab nicely.
The crowd cheers as Donald lands an impressive looking overhand right. Carpenter doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Elenor Carpenter has been cut.
Carpenter throws a leg kick
and Donald counters with a right hand to the body.
Donald misses with an uppercut.
Carpenter tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Donald misses with a wild body shot.
Carpenter displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Donald throws out the jab.
Carpenter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Donald. Carpenter does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carpenter looks to score with a jab to the body but Donald is just out of range.
Carpenter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Carpenter counters with a takedown into side control.

Donald sneaks out the side door and pushes Carpenter away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice uppercut there from Donald.
Donald throws a head kick that misses

and Carpenter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Donald's guard.
Donald wants to stand up but Carpenter is controlling him.

Carpenter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carpenter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carpenter working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Carpenter is working Donald over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Donald knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carpenter on the ground.

Carpenter is stalling in the full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carpenter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Carpenter is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Carpenter drops back looking for a leg! Donald is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Donald manages to kick Carpenter off! Carpenter jumps back into Donald's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carpenter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Carpenter won't allow Donald to get back to his feet.
Carpenter connects with a couple of short punches.
Carpenter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
It looks like Carpenter might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Carpenter drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Carpenter seems to have locked his on tight now - Donald screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Carpenter, as he picks up the win!
