Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Ross!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azevedo lands with an overhand left.
Azevedo attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Ross shoots in for a double leg but Azevedo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Ross counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fighters circling - Azevedo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Azevedo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ross as he avoids it easily.

Azevedo throws out a leg kick but Ross moves out of range and Azevedo only half commits.

Ross has closed the distance and engaged Azevedo in a clinch.
Ross is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Azevedo pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Azevedo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ross gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Azevedo has Ross pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ross manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ross jumps guard but Azevedo stands there with Ross around his waist. Ross gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Azevedo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ross's guard.

Azevedo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Azevedo seems to be looking for submissions.
Azevedo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ross is refusing to be controlled, as Azevedo sits in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ross darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ross really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Azevedo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Azevedo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ross is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Azevedo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ross's back instead.
Azevedo really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ross.
Ross looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Roberto Azevedo will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Ross is looking for a sweep. Azevedo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Azevedo moves nicely into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Azevedo advances nicely into full mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Azevedo unloads with some shots from mount but Ross bucks and avoids them well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ross keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Ross defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Azevedo.
Azevedo tries to control but Ross wriggling away.
Azevedo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Azevedo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ross is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ross and Azevedo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Azevedo is working for a guillotine from mount but Ross frees his head quite easily.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Ross shoots for a takedown but Azevedo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ross can do anything to dispel that myth.

Azevedo has control of Ross's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ross regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Azevedo is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ross has his hands clasped together but Azevedo extends an breaks Ross's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Azevedo.
