PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xavier White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Macotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Macotti has chosen Drown - Theory of a Deadman as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Xavier White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Macotti!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macotti circles away from the clinch attempt.
Macotti looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
White wants to clinch up but Macotti keeps it at a distance.
Macotti changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
White misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A combination from White does no damage.
We've been told by White's head coaches at Strong like Butterfly that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
White misses with a hook to the body
and Macotti counters with a nice uppercut.
White throws a nice head kick!
White tries to clinch up

and Macotti counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Macotti is working for a submission of some sort.
White is trying to maintain the position but Macotti is very close to passing his half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White is pressing down on Macotti's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
White controlling Macotti's posture.

Macotti drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and White dives on top into guard.

White has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
White stays in close to Macotti's body and controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White wants to pass the guard but Macotti is keeping the position.
White is looking to stand up but Macotti won't let him.
White stopping the sweep attempt from Macotti.
White tries to stand but Macotti is controlling from the bottom.
White trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White tries to clinch but Macotti is having none of it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Macotti! But no joy.

White moves into the clinch successfully.
White lands an elbow just above Macotti 's eye.
White pushes Macotti back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
White throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Macotti blocks it with crossed arms.
White misses with some punches.
Macotti is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

White's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
White wants to clinch but Macotti slips to the side

and Macotti counters with a shoot takedown. White fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Macotti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Macotti in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
White keeping full guard, as Macotti tries to pass.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White keeping moving, preventing Macotti from controlling successfully.
White bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Macotti's guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

White wanted to stand there but Macotti had control of the position.
Macotti is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White tries to kick Macotti off but Macotti keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Macotti not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Xavier White will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


White falls off balance throwing a combination

and Macotti counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
White tries to roll over but Macotti keeps him under control.
White is looking to control Macotti's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can White avoid being mounted?
White gets full guard.
Macotti chips away with some ground and pound.
White wants to stand and escape but Macotti is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Macotti drops back, looking for a kneebar! White looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. White looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from White!

Macotti can't do much from the bottom here.

White tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Macotti regains half guard.
White passes into side control, despite Macotti's attempt to control the position.
White tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
White tries to stand but Macotti controls the position and pulls White into his guard.
Macotti throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Macotti is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Macotti is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

White wanted to stand there but Macotti had control of the position.

Macotti is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! White has his hands clasped together but Macotti extends and breaks White's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Macotti.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Marco Macotti!
Marco Macotti decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
