The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Yates has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Yates and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Yates might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Yates is working for a kimura but Hoi is defending it quite comfortably.
Hoi is staying active underneath Yates, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoi is doing well to control the position and prevent Yates from advancing to side control.

Yates looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hoi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yates accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Yates is looking to work some ground and pound but Hoi has wrist control.

Yates is posturing up here but Hoi has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Yates tries to roll out but it's too tight and Yates has to tap! Slick submission there by Hoi!
