Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladislav Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Lahey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vladislav Volkov had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vladislav Volkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Lahey!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Volkov moves into the clinch.
Lahey is trying to force a seperation but Volkov has the dominant position.
Volkov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lahey smiles and moves away.
Volkov shoots in and drives through. Lahey sprawls well.
Lahey fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Volkov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladislav Volkov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some wild striking there from Lahey.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Volkov drives through and clinches with Lahey against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkov lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lahey backwards.
Volkov with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Jim Lahey has been cut.

Volkov breaks the clinch.

Volkov lands a big head kick that sends Lahey tumbling to the mat! Volkov takes a step backwards and waves Lahey back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Lahey is rocked!

Lahey tries to keep at a distance but Volkov has taken the fight into the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stalling in the clinch from Volkov.
Volkov manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Volkov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lahey gets tackled into the cage by Volkov. Volkov maintains the clinch.
Volkov fails to pull guard.
Lahey prevents the takedown attempt.
Volkov can't get the takedown.
Lahey wants to break free but Volkov has control.
Volkov using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Volkov jumps guard and drags Lahey to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lahey postures up in Volkov's guard and throws a big left but Volkov blocks it.
Lahey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lahey with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Volkov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Volkov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Volkov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lahey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Volkov is looking to work some ground and pound but Lahey has wrist control.
Volkov content to stall in guard here.

Volkov stands up from Lahey's guard - Volkov perhaps looking for a knockout.

Volkov moves into range and clinches up with Lahey.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Volkov tries for a takedown. No joy.

Volkov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lahey throws a lazy right hand but Volkov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
As Lahey tries to get set, Volkov tries to push him back and clinch up but Lahey manages to avoid the attempt.
Volkov fails with the takedown.

Volkov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lahey napping and manages to drive through into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladislav Volkov dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jim Lahey's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lahey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Volkov.
As Volkov backs off Lahey throws a huge counter combo but Volkov manages to avoid it all.
Volkov just misses with a punch to the body.
Volkov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lahey.
Vladislav Volkov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Volkov slips a jab from Lahey.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Volkov closes the distance and clinches.
Volkov controlling the action here for a moment.
Lahey takes a shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lahey pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Volkov lands with a right to the head.
Lahey misses with a hook to the ribs.
Come on Volkov - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Vladislav Volkov has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Lahey tries to circle away but Volkov has him pinned against the cage.
Lahey tries to break the clinch but Volkov is controlling the position.

Volkov jumps guard and drags Lahey to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lahey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Volkov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lahey, into his guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Volkov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lahey's guard.
Volkov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Volkov prevents Lahey from standing back up.
Volkov uses his free foot to push down on Lahey's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lahey.
Volkov controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Volkov working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Lahey turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Volkov off and cradles Lahey's limp body as Volkov celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Vladislav Volkov!
Jim Lahey was interviewed post fight and said 'Jim Lahey for supervisor of the year'.
