PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jospeh Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Busioni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jospeh Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Busioni!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay dives in and grabs Busioni's left leg, looking for a takedown. Busioni pushes down on Clay's head and hops out.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Busioni.
Clay is trying to get back to his feet.
Clay really is a fat lump.
Busioni is looking to take a break and control but Clay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Busioni looking to control but instead Clay has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clay is trying to stand back up but Busioni is controlling him

Busioni stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Clay to get to his feet.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Clay.

Busioni shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Busioni was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Busioni working the ground and pound but Clay is defending the strikes.
Clay wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Clay is looking to reverse the position.

Busioni decides to stand up, so the ref orders Clay to his feet.

Busioni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Clay is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Busioni wants to pass the guard but Clay is keeping the position.
Clay keeping moving, preventing Busioni from controlling successfully.
Busioni throwing strikes from guard but Clay blocks nicely.

Clay is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Clay is wriggling around but Busioni manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Clay wants to get back to his feet.
Busioni wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clay keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Clay is looking to improve his position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Busioni scores with a takedown into Clay's guard.
Busioni wants to control from the top but Clay keeps moving.
Clay is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Busioni is controlling him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gary Busioni dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Busioni tries to score with some ground and pound. Clay controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Busioni thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Clay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gary Busioni has got the better of the ground game so far.

Busioni gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Busioni looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Busioni stops Clay from getting back to his feet.

Busioni stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Busioni lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Busioni tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Clay counters with a three punch combo that has Busioni backing up. Busioni nods at Clay to acknowledge the strikes.

Clay gets caught flat footed, as Busioni shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Busioni has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Busioni prevents Clay from getting back to his feet.

Clay has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Busioni has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Busioni gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Busioni is breathing heavily.
Busioni trying to control the pace.

Busioni looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Clay looking for submissions off his back.

Clay looks like he's trying to stand up.

Clay wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gary Busioni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Busioni stalling away here and it's allowed Clay to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Clay is looking to stand up but Busioni isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jospeh Clay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Busioni counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Clay slips a jab and a cross from Busioni.

Busioni closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Busioni takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Busioni sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Clay defending well though.
Busioni throwing shots but Clay is blocking nicely.

Clay tries to kick Busioni off but Busioni keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Clay is pressing down on Busioni's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Busioni postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Clay keeping moving, preventing Busioni from controlling successfully.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Busioni tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Clay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Busioni shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Clay manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Busioni won't allow Clay to sweep him here.

Clay lands an upkick as Busioni stands over him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Busioni trying to control the position from guard on top but Clay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Clay wants to get back to his feet but Busioni is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Clay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Busioni is looking to work some ground and pound but Clay has wrist control.

Clay has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Busioni off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Jospeh Clay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gary Busioni is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Clay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gary Busioni comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Busioni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
