PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Deangelo Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Brezze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler Brezze will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Deangelo Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tyler Brezze!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brezze sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Perry somewhat.
Perry blocks a head kick by Brezze.
Brezze swats away the attempt to clinch by Perry.
Brezze throws a sloppy head kick and Perry moves out of range easily.
As Brezze looks to move away, Perry throws a big counter combo bu Brezze just gets out of the way.

Brezze has Perry up against the cage in a clinch.

Brezze pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perry fails in his attempt to clinch.

Brezze clinches.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Brezze has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Perry uses from the top position.
Brezze wants to sweep here but Perry controlling him for the moment.

Brezze utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Perry postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Perry with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brezze pulls Perry in close to prevent any damage.
Perry prevents Brezze from getting back to his feet.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Brezze moves into the clinch.
Perry is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brezze is pressed up against the cage. Perry has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brezze down to the mat. Brezze avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Perry has his takedown stuffed

and Brezze counters by moving into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deangelo Perry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brezze lands an elbow inside that Perry shrugs off.
Perry wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brezze has him pressed against the cage.
Brezze is pushing Perry up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Brezze pulls Perry into guard.
Perry missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Brezze is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Perry is controlling him.
Perry postures up and lands a big shot to Brezze's brow.
Brezze tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Perry keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Brezze's head.
Brezze is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Brezze looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Perry works over Brezze with some ground and pound from guard.
Perry slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Perry lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Perry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Brezze looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brezze is pulling down on Perry's head. It's preventing any offense from Perry, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Brezze stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brezze wants it to stay on the feet.

Brezze gets the takedown into side control.
Perry might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Perry gets back to half guard.
Brezze performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Perry wants to improve his position but Brezze is controlling well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Perry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Perry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Perry doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Perry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Brezze passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brezze is trying to control. Perry wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Brezze is pressing down on Perry's thigh, looking to free his foot. Perry is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perry throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Brezze has clasped his hands together around Perry's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Perry manages to get back to half guard.
Brezze throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Brezze is looking to take a break and control but Perry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Brezze has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Perry is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Perry avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Brezze.
Brezze passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Perry!
Perry is desperately trying to improve his position but Brezze has a good base and remains in mount.
Perry is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Brezze swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Perry is now in Brezze's guard. A big mistake from Brezze there, giving up the dominant position!
Brezze is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Perry postures up in Brezze's guard and throws a big left but Brezze blocks it.
Brezze is trying to control the position but Perry postures up.
Brezze lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brezze gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Perry works his way to full guard. Good work.

Brezze trying to control the position from guard on top but Perry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Perry is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Perry working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brezze doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brezze manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tyler Brezze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Perry tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brezze swivels and escapes.
Brezze tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Perry tries to keep at a distance but Brezze has taken the fight into the clinch.
Perry has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brezze is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well Brezze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
