Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frederic Gunines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Nugent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Nugent acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frederic Gunines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Nugent!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Darius Henderson and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunines is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.


It looks like Frederic Gunines has been cut.
Gunines is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gunines gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Nugent counters with a left and a right that hurts Gunines! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Nugent jumps into full mount!


Gunines is rocked!

Nugent has control of Gunines's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gunines regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Oh Gunines is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nugent wants to take Gunines's back but he can't do it this time.
Gunines seems to have got his legs back now.
Gunines can't escape the position.
Gunines is working hard here to advance position.

Nugent goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Gunines is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nugent can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gunines controls the pace.

Gunines is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nugent sees it coming and defends easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gunines is pressing down on Nugent's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nugent is holding on for now.
Gunines slows the pace down in half guard.

Gunines is working for a submission of some sort.
Nugent trying to control but Gunines postures up.

Gunines looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Nugent wants to get back to full guard.
Gunines not doing much here.
Nugent throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gunines uses his free foot to push down on Nugent's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nugent.
Gunines moves to the back position.
Gunines is riding his opponent, not letting Nugent buck him off.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frederic Gunines will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nugent throws a nice outside leg kick.
Gunines looks for a takedown but Nugent sprawls well.
Gunines tries to clinch up.
Gunines has a takedown stuffed.
Gunines with a lazy takedown attempt
and Nugent counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frederic Gunines. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nugent shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gunines as he jumps to the side.

Nugent clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gunines has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Nugent after a bit of a struggle.

and Nugent counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Nugent gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Nugent goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gunines prevents it.
Nugent scores with a shot to the side of Gunines's head.
Nugent lands a right hand.

Nugent's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nugent keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Nugent counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nugent closes the distance and pushes Gunines back into the cage.
Gunines is working for takedown but Nugent is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gunines changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nugent fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Gunines stuffs the takedown attempt from Nugent. Nugent gets slowly back to his feet.
Nugent lands a jab-cross combination.
Gunines tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Nugent manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Nugent gets a clinch.
Nugent lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gunines changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nugent fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Nugent. No joy for Gunines on that attempt.
Nugent lands a two punch combo.
Nugent connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gunines. Gunines circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Nugent fails with the takedown.

Nugent closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Nugent has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gunines is trying to keep an underhook but Nugent manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Gunines is trying is best to control the position here.
Gunines is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gunines controlling the position for now.
Gunines is pressing down on Nugent's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Nugent stopping the sweep attempt from Gunines.

Gunines working for a triangle but Nugent defends it easily.
Gunines wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Nugent loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gunines is on top in guard.

Frederic Gunines overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gunines sitting in guard here, content to control.
Gunines seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nugent for as long as he can get away with.
Nugent looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gunines is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Nugent showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Nugent displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gunines.
Nugent looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nugent rushes Gunines with punches - Gunines moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Gunines goes down! Nugent follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
