The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volcanic cracks Hyypia with a good jab.
Volcanic throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hyypia sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hyypia connects with a body shot.
Hyypia pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Volcanic tried to score with a low kick but Hyypia checks it.
Hyypia takes a swing at Volcanic's ribcage but misses.
A big left from Hyypia misses.
Volcanic slips a straight right by Hyypia.
Volcanic chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Donk. Hyypia catches Volcanic right on the button with a cross.
Volcanic lands with a hook. Hyypia tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Hyypia steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Volcanic. That one must have hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hyypia swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Hyypia throws an overhand right that lands on Volcanic's shoulder, as Volcanic tries to avoid the shot.
Hyypia takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Volcanic sizes up Hyypia with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Hyypia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Volcanic.
Volcanic has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Volcanic throws a body shot but no joy.
Hyypia tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Volcanic manages to circle out of the way.
Volcanic is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hyypia.
Volcanic throws a hook to the side of Hyypia's head but Hyypia sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Hyypia fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Volcanic, pushing him back against the cage.

Hyypia breaks the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hyypia throws a low kick but Volcanic moves out of range easily.
Hyypia displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Volcanic throws out the jab.
Hyypia circles away from the clinch attempt.
Volcanic cracks Hyypia with a right hand to the side of the head.
Volcanic cracks a nice hook into Hyypia's ribs.
Volcanic throws a sloppy head kick and Hyypia moves out of range easily.
Volcanic lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hyypia at a distance.
Hyypia lands with a cross.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hyypia crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Volcanic - the referee stops the clock and Hyypia gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Volcanic. Hyypia manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

A head kick misses from Hyypia.
Hyypia fails with an attempt to clinch.
Volcanic is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Hyypia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Volcanic.

Volcanic lands with a kick to the ribs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hyypia. Volcanic does a little dance to reset his feet.

Volcanic uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hyypia.

Hyypia moves forwards but Volcanic connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Volcanic fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Volcanic.
Hyypia takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Volcanic throws a nice head kick!
Hyypia swings widly with a right hand
and Volcanic counters with a low kick, right behind Hyypia 's knee.
Hyypia lands with a hook. Volcanic tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Volcanic has Hyypia up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hyypia manages to break the clinch.
Hyypia misses with a hook. Volcanic ducked under it nicely.
Volcanic replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Hyypia blocks it well.

Hyypia lands with an overhand left.
Volcanic feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hyypia's calf.

Hyypia works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Volcanic is rocked!
Volcanic moves out of range as Hyypia strikes.
Volcanic tries a quick counter leg kick but Hyypia is wise to it.
Volcanic lands a two punch combo.
Hyypia slips a straight right by Volcanic.
Volcanic avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hyypia misses with an uppercut. Volcanic saw that one coming.
Hyypia comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Volcanic tries to clinch but Hyypia moves away
and Hyypia counters with a nice right hand that sends Volcanic toppling to the canvas! Volcanic scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Hyypia finish him?!
Volcanic is still on wobbly legs! Can Hyypia finish him?
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Hyypia engages and cracks Volcanic with a massive lead left hook - Volcanic tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Hyypia is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sami Hyypia!
Sami Hyypia tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
