PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cletus Leblanc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamahl Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Blockbuster Night Pt. 1 as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Cletus Leblanc had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamahl Jones!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leblanc leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

As Jones looks to move away, Leblanc throws a big counter combo bu Jones just gets out of the way.
Jamahl Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A left and a right from Leblanc both land. Nice combination.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
It looked like Leblanc was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Cletus Leblanc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamahl Jones.

and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Leblanc really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Leblanc sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Leblanc moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Leblanc pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leblanc napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Leblanc is trying to get back to half guard.
Leblanc throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Leblanc tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Leblanc is looking for a sweep.

Leblanc manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Jones tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Leblanc throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Leblanc is trying desperately to improve position.
Leblanc knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Leblanc wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Jones controlling the position well here. Leblanc rolled but Jones kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

As Jones looks to move away, Leblanc throws a big counter combo bu Jones just gets out of the way.

Jones shoots in and bounces Leblanc off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Leblanc throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jones escapes and throws Leblanc's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Leblanc takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Jones is trying to get an arm triangle but Leblanc is defending well.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Jamahl Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Leblanc's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Leblanc pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Cletus Leblanc is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Leblanc will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Leblanc tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leblanc manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Leblanc throws a big counter combination but Jones scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Cletus Leblanc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamahl Jones.
Leblanc swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Leblanc tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Leblanc shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cletus Leblanc is winning the standup battle so far.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch.
Leblanc is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jones to keep the fight standing.

Leblanc had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.
Jones stands and throws Leblanc's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Jones happy to just control the position for now.

Leblanc sneaks back into half guard.
Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Leblanc with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Leblanc tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Leblanc defends it well.
Cletus Leblanc has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jamahl Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Jamahl Jones.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
