PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kickin Rad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rad comes into the arena with Kids Of The K-Hole blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Kickin Rad has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 40 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kickin Rad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Clay Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas looks to score with a jab to the body but Rad is just out of range.
Rad throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A telegraphed right hand from Thomas misses the target.
Rad swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rad throws a sloppy head kick and Thomas moves out of range easily.
Thomas swats away the attempt to clinch by Rad.
Rad takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Thomas throws out a powerful jab.
Thomas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thomas's corner calls for a 1-2. Thomas obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Thomas pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rad back to the cage. Thomas follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rad circles away quickly and effectively.
Rad displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Thomas throws out the jab.
Thomas throws a front kick aimed at Rad's knee but Rad avoids it well.

Rad appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Thomas tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rad is able to avoid easily.

The fighters circling - Thomas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Thomas throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
It looked like Rad wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Rad throws a head kick that misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thomas moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Rad scores with a jab to the head.
Rad looks for the body kick but Thomas saw that one coming.
Thomas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Crunch! Rad slams his shin into Thomas's torso.
Thomas steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rad. That one must have hurt.
Rad explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Clay Thomas will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rad.

Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rad. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rad seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Rad tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Thomas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Rad throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Rad shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thomas wants to stand and escape but Rad is having none of it.
Rad not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Thomas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rad throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thomas's waist but Thomas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rad off to one side.

Rad has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well Rad has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
