PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Dilaxo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Terkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alan Terkey told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Dilaxo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Terkey!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dilaxo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Dilaxo throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Terkey on the side of the head.
Dilaxo throws a series of punches but Terkey avoids them all with ease.
Dilaxo misses with the combination.
Dilaxo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Terkey clinches up against the cage.
Dilaxo is trying to break the clinch but Terkey is controlling him.
Terkey drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Terkey tries to clinch up but Dilaxo circles away and keeps his distance.
It looked like Dilaxo was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Dilaxo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Dilaxo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dilaxo tries to bum rush Terkey with a series of wild strikes but Terkey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Terkey throws a counter combo.
Dilaxo is breathing heavily.

Terkey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Terkey gets to his feet - Dilaxo follows without any prompting.

Dilaxo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Terkey dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dilaxo. That did some damage!

Terkey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Terkey looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dilaxo takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Dilaxo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Terkey on the ground.
Terkey tries to move to mount but Dilaxo blocks the move with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dilaxo wants to control but Terkey postures up.

Terkey tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Terkey has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Terkey shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Terkey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Terkey not doing much here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alan Terkey dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Terkey tries for a takedown but Dilaxo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Terkey misses with a takedown attempt - Dilaxo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Terkey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Terkey is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dilaxo!
Terkey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Terkey wants to control the pace but Dilaxo is squirming around nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Terkey is trying to control the action in half guard but Dilaxo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Terkey has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Dilaxo defend it? Terkey steps over the head and cranks it - Dilaxo is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Terkey!
