PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gunner State (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Spade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). State comes into the arena with Blaze Of Glory by Bon Jovi blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Spade's choice of entrance music: Ace Of Spades. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Spade!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spade shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts State as he jumps to the side.
State scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
State throws a right and a left that both miss.
State fails to land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed right hand from State misses the target.
Gunner State seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from State.
Spade throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around State's waist but State gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Spade off to one side.
State circles away from the clinch attempt.
No luck for Spade with that takedown attempt.
Gunner State has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Spade.
State pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
State throws a nice looking combination but Spade bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

State rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spade moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Spade tries to close the distance and clinch up but State swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Spade with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling State to score with a decent uppercut.

State tries to break the clinch but Spade is controlling the position.

The fight stays on the outside here - Spade looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
State stalks Spade and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Spade's face. Spade staggers backwards, shaken.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

State swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
State lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Spade shoots in and bounces State off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Spade is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but State has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Spade is looking to defend but State has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Spade! State pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Spade taps out and this one is all over!
